This module integrates e-learning with online live training sessions. The “Raw materials” module covers which raw materials are used for mushroom substrate production and especially how to assess fluctuations in raw materials and how to deal with them to make a homogeneous substrate for mushroom production.
E-Learning
The e-learning is based on the book “Mushroom Signals”. In this module, you will answer questions and work through practical cases. We expect you to spend about 2 hours going through this module. At the end there will be a test, after which you receive a certificate. The e-learning should be completed before the online live training.
Webinar
During the online live training session (Webinar), the e-learning component is explained and discussed in more detail by the trainer. Together with fellow students (maximum 15), you will discuss problems you encounter in daily practice. This exchange will help you assess and optimise your operational processes.
Composting training
The “Raw Materials” module is one of 6 modules covering the entire substrate composting process. Other modules include:
– Phase 1 raw materials (this module)
– Phase 1 Prewetting
– Phase 1 Caramelisation
– Phase 2 Pasteurisation/Conditioning
– Phase 2 Spawning
– Phase 3 incubation of the compost
After completing all modules, you will be able to understand the entire process and make adjustments if necessary, in order to produce the optimal mushroom substrate for mushroom production.
