In the “Caramelisation Process” module, you will learn the temperature ranges that compost must pass through and how to influence these. The module covers the entire process of aerating, watering, and turning. You will also learn how to assess the quality of compost. Additionally, the module provides tips on minimizing odour nuisance. This knowledge is crucial for optimizing the composting process and reducing environmental impact.
E-Learning
The e-learning is based on the book “Mushroom Signals.” In this module, you will answer questions and work through practical cases. It is expected that you will spend approximately 1.5 hours on this module. At the end, there will be a test, and upon passing, you can obtain a certificate. The e-learning should be completed before attending the online live training session.
Webinar
During the online live training session, the e-learning component is explained and discussed in more detail by the trainer. Together with fellow students (maximum 15), you will discuss problems you encounter in daily practice. This exchange will help you assess and optimise your operational processes.
Composting training course
The ‘pre-wetting’ module is one of 6 modules covering the entire composting process. Other modules include:
– Phase 1 raw materials
– Phase 1 pre-mix and pre-wet
– Phase 1 Caramelisation (this module)
– Phase 2 Pasteurisation/Conditioning
– Phase 2 Spawning
– Phase 3 incubation of the compost
After completing all modules, you will be able to understand the entire process and make adjustments if necessary, in order to produce the optimal mushroom substrate for mushroom production.
